This book wonderfully chronicles the journey of men & women who have lived truly extraordinary and inspirational lives. Apart from bringing to light the truly phenomenal feats undertaken by them, each chapter delves into the trials and challenges encountered during the course of their lives, which not only serves to underscore the greatness of the feats accomplished but also humanizes and makes these personalities more real for a lay reader.Writers truly deserve credit for presenting these lives and stories in an extremely engaging, articulate and well-written form. But for this book, we the millenials/Gen Z may have never got to know about such unsung heroes (and sheroes).Must read for those looking to get inspired.A Great Read. 5/5

In the book “Being The Change- In the Footsteps of the Mahatma”, author Ashutosh Salil and Barkha Mathur, through seven stories, explores the change in the social scenario and situations in the region of Vidarbha, inspired by the teachings, motivation, message, and ideology of Mahatma Gandhi. Published on the occasion of the 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, this book shares the stories of people who have kept the spirit of Satya, Ahimsa, Tyaag, and Hridya Parivartan (Truth, Non-violence, Sacrifice, and Change of heart).I rarely read non-fiction, because they sometimes become factually heavy and overburdened, or because of the impractical practices, fail to grab my attention. But this book was different, as it represented stories of real people, real problems, and real solutions. It was written in such an easy and engaging language, that the stories just flow and make you hooked with them, giving life lessons and motivation. The stories here depict how the development of the country starts from the grassroots level, from the villages and remote areas, and for that, how much sacrifice and struggle is needed. And how, even though it looks challenging, could be achieved and that there is still the need for improvement, of resources and of people who could stimulate it.If you are someone who is looking forward to reading stories on sociology or wants to see how the utopian concept of Gandhian ideology gets picturized in real life, you should check out this book.

The book presents such inspiring stories with conviction, coherence and commitment. The writing is beautiful as is the structure. It is truly so heartening and inspiring to hear and read about the amazing personalities that the authors have painstakingly found, interviewed and brought to us. In ways the book is truly timeless- it looks at the profound impact that even the action of a single individual can have. It is one of those books that you finish reading and then the real inspiration comes. Definitely a must read!

𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪:This book is about the children of the mother India who dedicated their lives in the service of their motherland. It’s about their early life and how they became one of the soldiers in the movement of freedom of India. Written with the objective of promoting the teachings of our beloved Bapu Mahatma Gandhi and how his teachings are still relevant in the new millenniums. Not only that this book was also written with the objective of telling the stories of the unshouted heroes as well as sheroes in the movement of the freedom of IndiaThe book is well narrated and the language of the book is really easy and beginner friendly. Honestly I love reading history and hearing the stories about my beloved motherland India. To be precise I love hearing the stories which are not in the books of history and honestly this book was a treat to me. I loved how this book was small and it really light read yet so impactful. This book is divided into seven chapters and tells seven different stories about seven heroes and heroes so one can easily finish it in one sitting on the go. The book was really interesting and it portrays the life of and our ancestors and their struggles. A totally recommended one!!𝗠𝗬 𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚: 4.5/5🌟

Having stayed mostly in cities for almost all my life, it’s hard to imagine what kind of problems people face in tribal and remote areas. It’s even harder to imagine how some people have – against all odds and personal challenges, even letting go off opportunities and luxuries they could have had in their personal life – tirelessly dedicated their whole life for the upliftment of societies in such remote areas. Areas that are not even accessible by a car.

The book narrates a few stories. Of folks who have dedicated their lives in the service of others. From doctors to teachers to social activists, living in far-flung regions of Maharashtra, away from civilization. The book presents them with beautiful simplicity. It would’ve been perhaps easier to portray them as saints and martyrs. Instead, the book offers an insight into their humanity.People who decided they need to fix things. Why? Because.

Writing is really terrible!I have to admit the book reads really poorly. Bit appalled at the writing which is coming from a journalist and a bureaucrat. Despite the good intentions behind the book, the chapters simply meanders away in many directions leaving loose ends. And as a reader, you would feel often like what was the author trying to convey in the last page or two.Authors could have used a better editor for the book and kept the narrative simple. Even if the book was half the size of what a short book it is already – simple language would have made it 10 times more impactful. Shame its wasted away.
