I generally don’t prefer reading poetry books but I don’t know why the title and cover page of the book “Candy Floss” attracted my attention and I ended up purchasing its Kindle version. The poet, Bhavyakirti, has written a very unique poetry book which doesn’t cater to only one theme like most poetry books. It talks right from the childhood experience to the motherhood experience as well. The scale at which this book touches your emotion is just wonderful because you are able to relate with the feelings conveyed through the words. The artistic drawings in the book holds your attention and adds to the value of the book and makes it interesting. It’s a short and pleasant read. You can easily pick its Kindle version and enjoy during traveling or before sleep.

Candy Floss by Bhavyakirti is a short collection of poems, not restricted to any genre. The poems are from everyday experiences, from memories and do not always have a rhyming to them. Most of the poems are accompanied by a beautiful illustration capturing the gist of the words. All the poems have an underlying feeling of sadness and melancholy without being implicit which is the main attraction of the book. The cover is pretty and works well for the theme. The poems bring back fond memories in our lives especially from childhood and from the corners of our homes. The writing style is good and different from normal poetry books we usually come across. At less than 70 pages it is a quick read but the words are sure to stay with the reader for long.

The book inside is same as it looks from outside, sweet, simple and mesmerizing. The final poem in the last is pure emotion and captivating. I am both delighted and amazed to know that this is the first book by the author who happens to be a young lady, as it takes immense courage to bring yourself out to the world and flourish. Saying so, I wish you gain more strength and adoration, and continue to astonish everyone around you.

  4. Siddharth Dahiya

The book has been neatly written with a very light and refreshing tone of creativity, be it the author’s idea on detergent or the degrees, the canvases or the conversations; and especially her take on Candy Floss.May she come up with lots of equally good works in future !!

I am not much into poetry reading, but I thought of giving this book a chance.Covering various topics, the poetry in this book goes deep and requires to be read at leisure, grasping the words.

This is a collection of wonderful, lovely and very relatable poems….The strings of words are curved into beautiful necklaces which is not only beautiful but also useful… I personally enjoyed a lot all the poems and hence recommend others also to get the taste…

When I first picked the book, I was apprehensive because I had never heard of the author, but my instinct told me to give it a try. I believe in Rupa Publication. The publication journey they have over the decades says something about them. Their selection of books never fails to entertain their readers, nor does this book.Page after page, I feel more engrossed in the words. They enfold the imaginative mind of the poet, which is observant. I think we take the little things in life for granted, which the poet brings into her poems.Every poem is different from the other, and it covers various facets of life from childhood memories to higher education, glass bangles to empty hand cream. It’s beautiful to read how simple things in life give so much joy and big things sometimes pass through too quickly.Read the poems and revisit the lost joy of gratitude, memories, and love of small pleasure.

When I started reading this book, honestly, I couldn’t make out what I was reading because of the intricacy with which the author has weaved the words together for expression. It was after a very long time that I have come across a collection of poetry that is so layered with deep meanings and unique perspectives that it took me a few attempts at rereading to grasp on to the essence. However, as I went on reading, I was impressed by the writer’s style of penning the verses. There is a multitude of subjects dealt with in the verses and the writer has added her own point of view and observations on those subjects, making the verses personal yet contemplative.I would suggest this book to hardcore poetry lovers as amateur explorers may find it difficult to grasp.
