Written in funny and charming style, Khyrunnisa Ma’am’s Chuckle Merry Spin gives an insightful view into the everyday surprises (and struggles!) of visiting the U.S. It was also highly informative and helpful for me, as well as engrossing and absolutely hilarious to say the least! Through her entertaining travelogue, the author takes us along as they travel from one destination to other in the US meeting wonderful people along the way. Together with the author, I also met Gary, the cab driver, the lovely Sue & Larry of ‘The Atlas Waterfront Café’ and many other interesting people, who too have found a special place in my heart. To someone, like me, who has never visited the US, there were some things that came as a total surprise to me, such as the information that there are no public restrooms in Door County, something I would have never guessed otherwise. In a nutshell, the book had me chuckling all the while. I shall now keep those handy tips that the author so kindly shared in her book, when I visit the U.S sometime in my life.

The author presents a riveting journey through the States with her trademark humour and light-hearted style of writing. As usual, there are many clever literary references and puns galore. She has a fresh and uniquely Indian perspective on the funny and not-so-funny sides of life in present day America.I found the reading experience to be quite immersive, which can be chalked up to the author’s exceptional talent. I felt like I was right there with her, meeting fascinating people and exploring beautiful landscapes.I came away from this book with a deep desire to go visit America some day.Hoping the author continues her tenure in non-fiction writing.

“Did the U.S. have to be so far away from India? Imagine, having to fly nineteen hours to reach Chicago. Yikes! All because Christopher Columbus couldn’t sit at home and follow his father’s wool trade like a good boy. Ah, well, no point wool gathering about re-inventing history to suit your convenience. Now that we had our visas, we had to think of booking tickets.”When Khyrunnisa and her husband, VK, decide to travel to the U.S. for their daughter-in-law’s graduation ceremony, they enthusiastically throw themselves into the preparations. Visas procured and warm clothes packed, they set forth. And what an adventure it turns out to be—full of peculiar restaurant rules, tipping norms, confusing subway stations, interesting places and entertaining conversations.Chuckle Merry Spin is a travelogue chronicling her visit to the US with her husband – their first overseas trip – and she captures every moment. The author collects her travel experiences of navigating the travel and tourism industry in India which carry forward with a keen observation of American culture, a crash-course about the country’s history, it’s natural beauty and the components of the American social fabric.A humour-filled travelogue with every moment that is as comedic as it is relatable, this is as much an entertainer for the spirited adventurer as it is for the armchair traveller. And, whichever traveller you choose to be, you will always find the comfort of home and the warmth of friends in every story. For complete review, visit aquamarineflavours.wordpress.com

Yet another rib tickling treat from the queen of satire Khyrunnisa A.The book is a travelogue where the author not just narrates her experiences but takes us along with her all across the U.S.When she goes close to the Niagra we get drenched, when she watches a Shakespeare an play we are just as thrilled.Unlike other travelogues ,along with serving as a guide for aspiring tourists, the book gives a real feel of the places and people . There is never a dull moment due to the author’s characteristic witty narrative.Apart from the usual tourist spots we also get a glimpse of some quaint lesser known places which turn out to be hidden gems. Another interesting aspect of the book is that the author brings in her better half for a first person narrative whenever he ventures on an adventure on his own whether it is a midnight bathroom exploration or a railway expedition. What I liked best about the book however was a subtle portrayal of the affection and care with which a young couple work hard to gift the parents a memorable trip despite their hectic schedules. An absolute must read !!!!

An awesome read! It’s as if the author , Miss Khyrunissa took us readers, along with her , while visiting US. Chuckle Merry Spin is a travelogue, filled with anecdotes , mostly funny, of her first visit to US. Her usage of rhyming words, to describe situations, has always surprised me, as a reader. We also get to know a little bit about the history of various places. One can also use the book to create an itinerary while planning a trip to the US. All in all, I couldn’t keep the book down , after I started to read, until I finished reading the book. Loved the cover page , so colourful and eye catching. Thank you Miss, for this wonderful book.

The author famous for her Butterfingers series is back with a remarkable, unputdownable travelogue that is sure to make you ROTFL throughout. The author and her husband, VK, are traveling to the US for the first time and the first time apprehensions are comically talked about. Humor has been sewn into every incident. It’s difficult to read the book without breaking into laughter every now and then.Sure way to fall in love with the author again. And probably travels. And of course, VK.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
